Último libro publicado hasta la fecha de la saga de Nikki Heat que ha sido una constante en mis lecturas en inglés de este año (ahora espero ansiosa el próximo volumen).
No son grandes novelas, son entretenidas, con personajes que conozco de la serie y que pueden gustarme más o menos. El hecho de sacarlo de una ficción que representan como verdadera y darles una nueva vuelta de tuerca me divierte.
En este caso Rook lleva casi dos meses fuera de la ciudad y Heat lo echa mucho de menos (más de lo que en realidad quiere admitir) así que cuando vuelve a la ciudad y se intenta inmiscuir (como de costumbre) en la investigación de un caso Heat lo recibe (esta vez sí) con los brazos abiertos. Con la ayuda inestimable de sus ayudantes la investigación avanza y consiguen detener a un sospechoso que a todas luces es el culpable.
Rook piensa que el detenido no puede ser el asesino y así se lo hace saber a su novia/detective que reacciona muy mal haciendo que la relación se tambalee una vez más. Rook desaparece, busca espacio y Heat se da cuenta de que esta vez puede que sea la definitiva, que ese enfriamiento no vuelva a calentarse.
Si además le sumas, unos mercenarios que persiguen a la detective, un jefe más preocupado de la prensa que de sus propios casos y un posible ascenso en ciernes tenemos todos los elementos para una novela de ritmo trepidante y que termina de una manera sorpresiva.
Espero que no demoren mucho la publicación de la nueva entrega (si la hubiera) para cerrar lo que se quedó abierto en esta última entrega.
